As a writer and educator I am primarily focussed on lyrical craft and the creative process. My time at ICMP endowed me with a wealth of tools and methods to sharpen the technical craft of a song to maximise its potential and I learned how to harness the creative process in the most conducive ways to bring the best out of any given songwriter. I'm a big believer in constantly writing and sharing so I set weekly briefs to encourage you to write in new ways and then give detailed and constructive feedback that will help you grow. I know from experience that sharing new songs can be unnerving so I take a lot of care helping people overcome this hurdle. Solo sessions are catered towards your individual needs to help you achieve personal goals: whether this be helping you overcome periods of block, write more engaging lyrics, structure exciting chord progressions, find fresher rhymes, or establish your artistic voice/sound. Weekly briefs will challenge you to become the unique writer you want to be. Group sessions focus on a weekly theme that help students sharpen specific areas of their writing (eg. rhyme, imagery, structure, chord theory, melodies, etc) and have A&R style group feedback sessions in which students can play their work to the group and get instant feedback from their peers on how they can develop. Outside of classes, I'm open to discuss songs, technique, career goals, co-writing, learning resources or whatever else will help you develop as a songwriter.
